The diskette was used to access and copy a doc from a pc and the data area now has a copy of the floppy boot sector (all 512 bytes) in the data area of the diskette. I don't understand how this can happen. This was done in a windows os.Any likely scenarios?

I just created a new template in Word 2007, and saved it as a template. But when I go to Office Button > New, it doesn't show up anywhere. Not under Blank and Recent, nor Installed Templates, nor My Templates. It's saved in Documents. How do I get to it?

I believe that for a document format to be called 'Open', it must be fully documented, so that any software vendor can fully support it. Microsoft's binary office formats (like Word's DOC format) are proprietary formats, with the limited 3rd party support available only through reverse engineering. PDF is frequently cited as an 'Open' format suitable for government use, although it was developed by Adobe alone, and to date the best read and write support for PDF files is available only from Adobe. Is PDF fully documented, or is it wrong to call PDF an 'Open' format?
