bright plummy tones telling us, as a news broadcast, what a great day it was....lies, liars and the rotten people that tell them!anybody getting tired of being wipe-sawed by the market?the question is; what is left to be believed? are there any sources that tell the truth anymore?the 'news' was/is purposely misleading. to be 'successful' sales would have to been at least 20% higher than last year. last years holiday sales slump laid the final groundwork for this years dismal performance., this years will be the death knell, but our tv tells us how great it is....if you were visiting in another country and witnessed this type of tv coverage, what would you think of that country? what would you think of the news broadcasts? might you see reason to doubt anything that was broadcast?a true stat about thanksgiving after day sales is the fast food outlet sales for that day....

(Subprime mortgage)* Under his leadership, overall homeownership rate wa at all time high of 69%. Minority homeownership set a record of 51% in 2nd qtr.And now, people are saying that it was policies from a decade ago that caused this crisis?

We are at about 6.6% now, it peaked at around 7.1 back in 1993 during the "glory days" of the economy.
OK, a little history and then I'll explain the question better. My wife and I are travel nurses. We take assignments in areas we are considering living in. Sometime around the end of 09/beginning of 10, we will have a better idea of where we'd like to settle down in and we will buy a house. As we go around the country, I have a few realtives/friends back home who I keep in touch with for info. on the housing market. When I like a place, I give them a ring and they research the place from their desk/home in PA. One thing they look for is the presence of "house flippers". They have a few things they look at that tell them if there is heavy house flipping activity in the area. If there is, we wont live there, or we will be very carefull not to look at houses beig sold by house flippers. For those who are not familiar with the term, a house flipper buys homes/property and resells it at a higher cost to someone who desperately wants it.
I believe we need a goal and I think a great goal would be to go to the moon not just visit but settle it that would open tremendous avenues for our country. What do you think would work best?
People are losing their jobs. Lucky gas prices are dropping for now that is.
