Is Corporate Americas' Greed getting them back now?

with the current Banking/Housing failures? This question deserves to be answered again see 4/5/08 answers on Q and A, who's right and who's wrong?
ThatGayConservative:

Ever notice how everybody knows who Ken Lay was, but nobody knows who the Fan/Fred idiots are?

Whipsaw:

Corporate greed is a required aspect of growth and profit in industry. It is expected and demanded in the business world, and drives our economy. Without it you and I would quickly starve. The greed that drove folks to buy far more house than they could afford is a less noble and productive version. Blame whoever you like, but without buyers, there are no sellers.

TruthJunkie:

If Corporate greed is required in industry , at whose expense, there are people who want to help others and not cross the line of greed. If we all help each other wouldn't we all prosper? I'll admit Banks and other industries have pushed far too much credit on people and are responsible for this mismanagement. We need a re-structure of our economy. Thanks for the comments.

Whipsaw:

Capitalism is greed. It works well as a motivator. Banks pushed credit on people? Do you really feel sympathy for me if I buy a mansion or two I can't afford, while you are living within your means? Should you have to reward my failure with the products of your own hard work? Yes, it is nice to toss greed out the window, and help others, as economic policy this is called socialism, or in its extreme form communism. It seems to be the way we are heading, and I have no real problems with that. It is high time we shut down the engines of industry and profit, and feed our laziness and that of others. Or perhaps we could free our markets and stop rewarding those who fail, individuals or companies.

TruthJunkie:

I believe the key words here are free our markets and stop rewarding those who fail. An incentive to help each other and everybody who works towards the right and true meaning of what business and united should stand for. What happen to being Proud to be an American?

Whipsaw:

I don't have the answers, or even strong opinions on our economy, I am just trying to point out that we almost all benefited from the mortgage bubble, and we are all going to wind up paying for its collapse. I didn't see anyone protesting when the profits were rolling in, I don't see much point in blaming anyone now that we are back in the red. Rich or poor, I think Americans in general are still proud to be Americans, and look for ways to help others.

TruthJunkie:

you have my vote!

Cutekannan:

Greed among some is one of the main causes of the current financial turmoil. The only problem is that the really greedy for the most part have already taken their money off the table and left a lot of innocent people holding the empty bag....as least in the stock markets.

TruthJunkie:

How very true, the greedy are warned ahead of time , mainly because they start the cycle the average American is left holding the (empty)bag.. Thanks for the comments.

QB Kate:

Yes, and they know that they will be bailed out!!!!!!! Too bad for American Citizens.

Mac....Of Moot and Mac:

We won't bail them all out.......We won't nationalize this country............

TruthJunkie:

The ones that are bailed out belong to the same circle.
The ones not bailed out , aren't playing the game!

ThatGayConservative:

Actually, it has to do with the greed and dishonesty of the borrowers who wanted all they could get without ever having to pay it back. But you can't blame them because that would hurt their feelings. Therefore, it has to be the eeee-vil corporate America, which gives people jobs, salaries and benifits.

Svwhu:

You have such tunnel vision, it is really sad!

TruthJunkie:

The very ones that give you those jobs have created a society that dictates greed among the people by over extending credit to them to keep up with the Smiths and Jones . They knew exactly what they were doing , all for profit at the expense of the working class. More education on finances should be taught and people would have no excuse if they abuse the appropriate credit extended to them. And not fee driven or service charged (if calculated as an annual percentage rate )would be astronomical. Remember who writes the laws that govern the Corporate World?

ThatGayConservative:

Oh I see. We conveniently ignore those liberals, the CBC especially who demanded that the mortgage companies loan to riskier clients and end the fantisized "red lining". We can't blame those who falsified documentation to get the loans and we never hold accountable liberals who were pocketing campaign contributions or CEOs who suck up to the CBC.

We should blame the eeevil CEOs and "corporate America" and sweep the rest neatly under the carpet where nobody can see it. We blame Bush and ignore the liberals with fat wallets and the "bitter" American churls will be happy.

Got it.

Svwhu:

When did this demanding take place TGC? I never hear that one before! Where are all these falsified documents you speak of and what proof do you have that they even exist. I remember it being Phil Gramm that wrote the deregulation and John McCain and a republican congress that passed it. When did they become liberal? Your ranting are sounding awfully guilty!

Svwhu:

No, don't worry the government will alway bail out the rich and greedy, no matter what it costs the rest of us!

ThatGayConservative:

Maybe we can bail out entire countries like lord BJ did when he bailed out Mexico?

Svwhu:

That it's TGC, change the subject as usually instead of facing up to it! The usual cowardly thing to do.

John P:

No, because they are using the tax payers money to bail themselves out. They don't care because they can always turn it on the taxpayers.
