McCain has already endured more suffering than any Gitmo detainee, isn't he the best to lead us out?

John McCain was almost alone in his dogged determination to see the chaotic slaughter in Iraq brought under control. He, General David Petraeus, and thousands of brave men and women volunteers, brought sense and reason to that warfare, and succeeded in drawing down that violence. John McCain wants to end the sufferings of Guantanamo, and find a release from the bonds which hold us all. He demands that we never even consider cruelties or tortures. John McCain will keep America strong, ..he is determined to ensure that no enemy even consider war with us. Barack Obama has already announced his aggressions toward Iran, Afghanistan, and any area within Pakistan where he believes he may find the now cave-dwelling Osama bin Laden. John McCain has been through that pain, ..and he has found his way back. He knows the path, he has been down it already, he knows that experience. Sen. Obama does not. As we elect our guide for the next four years, ..shouldn't we choose the leader who knows the way?
Sonnamae:

Yes he is, we know where is heart is, and that he has ALWAYS put our country first.
Do we really know where obama stands on anything. NO ! He tries to keep his past hidden.
With obama's friends, I would also.
It's McCain all the way.

CalCarp:

..you know, life is just so amazingly odd sometimes! If we asked ourselves: "Which candidate has experience as a leader?", ..and "Which one does not?" --And then: "Which one should we choose to lead our nation?"

Lorri:

What does having been a POW have to do with leadership now?

CalCarp:

A leader must know the material, ..the nature of the events, ..the possibilities that can hide behind another's words. John McCain has been there, and seen and felt the entire range of human behaviors. He can NOT be surprised. He will NOT be caught up in situation where he does not recognize the range of motives and designs other people, or other nations, are considering as they approach America. A wise nation puts the person in front who best knows the possibilities, and the effects, of current actions. John McCain has been there, seen all the behaviors, and returned to us with that knowledge. We would be reckless not to let him lead us now.

Svwhu:

CC.....You are delusional.

CalCarp:

How so, insiteful? ..And can you explain your own voting decision?

[email protected]@NCH:

YOU BETCHA!!

.:

ok, now you have confused me. this sounds suspiciously like sarcasm........

CalCarp:

.."free" your thoughts, ..trust your guts, ..imagine it was for real.

James:

Dear CalCarp,
Well, it certainly qualifies him to be a leader of the prisoners. Let's hold an election for that and we can auction Governor Palin's clothes on ebay and send him there. We'll give the rest to health care costs for the uninsured. It is very good that Senator McCain spoke out against the torture of the inmates, but as to being able to lead the rest of us, I am not sure it qualifies him. There are reports that he expresses great and resentment toward the Vietnamese people. He also has health problems relating to that internment, skin cancer being the least of them. I think that Senator McCain should stay right where he is, in the Senate.

CalCarp:

Sen. McCain went over and made peace with the very Vietnamese military officer that tortured him in captivity. They shook hands, avowed forgiveness, and worked together for better trade between our two nations. McCain brings success.

Svwhu:

No! Not at all. Not even close!

CalCarp:

Really? ..After all, experience is a good thing, ..especially when people's lives are at stake. What is your argument against mine? P.s., ..here is a friend of Barack's remarking upon Sen. Obama's "experience" and "accomplishment": "No, I can not name even one legislative accomplishment of Sen. Obama's, but I feel he is inspirational." (Texas State Senator Kirk Watson, Obama Campaign Supporter, Texas primary, 2008.)

CalCarp:

See the video of Sen. Watson's appraisal of Sen. Obama at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybd7MUixxyg

CalCarp:

..I'd rather be lead by experience, and knowledge, ..than simply "inspiration".

Svwhu:

That's your choice and I just don't agree that McCain's brand of experience qualifies him to lead. I don't want to be rude about it but he has screwed up a lot and caused a lot of havic in his military career. I think it is rather sad that he is now trying to use it to get elected. He must think that people will not take it all into account and obviously some may not, but I do and I don't think it makes a pretty picture of a stable leader as you seem to think.
Obama is a natural born leader. There isn't any doubt in my mind that he has what it takes to lead this country to better days.

CalCarp:

What has Sen. Obama ever led successfully? ..His leadership of the "Chicago Annenberg Challenge", his only attempt at leadership, has led to judgments of failure, and a request for that school charity money to be accounted for or returned. One of his own campaign supporters (Senator Kirk Watson above) can not think of one thing Sen. Obama has accomplished. That is NOT a good choice of leader.

SovieTAviator:

how do you know that and no

Ika:

McCain is more of Bush and we can not afford that.

CalCarp:

Really, ..How is McCain the same as Bush? ..Haven't they argued for years? ..And wasn't until Bush finally listened to McCain that the violence in Iraq was reduced? ..and the Iraqi democracy finally afforded a chance to succeed? ..We should not wait so long next time to listen to that one political leader who has actually been there, and done that! Take a good look at that picture, ..Sen. Obama does not choose to respect, or defend America. Do you?

LlLLlANSLlLLlES:

McCain did nothing to demand an accounting of the POW's and MIA's after the end of the Viet Nam war. Being a POW does not qualify him to be president and his pick of an unqualified vice president is a sure sign of his inability to make rational decisions. His support of Bush's economic policies has lead us to the brink of financial ruin. I don't like either him or Obama for voting for the bailout , especially with all the pork attached to the bill. I think we need to vote against both of them and every incumbent in Washington. To many of you just can't seem to get the message our " Representatives" are giving to you--- THEY JUST Don't CARE ABOUT US. They think they can do whatever they want and we will be stupid enough to believe their lies and re elect them. Any vote for either one of them is a vote to keep "Business as Usual" in Washington. The only vote to change our government is a vote against both "Super Parties".

CalCarp:

Well, ..there you are, ..have you noticed that it is Sen. Obama that those long term Democrats, and their long term Wall Street partners have selected and coifed for their Presidential prospect? Why do you think they hope to be able to deal with Obama (who Democratic Sen. Watson admits has no accomplishments) ..rather than Sen. McCain who wants to "take a hatchet" to all their excessively wasteful spending, and to all their neglect of a well founded future? McCain is right now arguing for relief for the mortgage foreclosings, and has been the only one to advance a proposal which allows those mortgages to be maintained, and also provide for their future repayment so that the cost to the public is kept to a minimum. You are free to wander in the wilderness of fantasy if you like, ..I'll vote McCain, and make it home.

LlLLlANSLlLLlES:

No president can take a scalpel or a hatchet without the line item veto. We were promised by Newt Gingrich, that we would have a vote on term limits by a "Republican " congress. It never even came to a vote. So much for republicans against "big, corrupt" government.

CalCarp:

I like line-item-veto also, especially as it will promote the "separation" of the bill's included items (..now bills are forwarded in "bundles" with lots of "earmarks".) Individual submissions will allow more personal accountability, and promote savings.

CalCarp:

..and yes, Newt Gingrich was a GREAT waste of time and resource (..Like Joe Biden!). But why blame McCain for Mr. Gingrich? ..Is John McCain his dad or something?

Browser:

What does that have to do with being the President of the United States Of America!
All you hear is all this maverick junk, the man served his country in which he chose to, he erratic, and confused, and the scary part is he's not the healthiest person, and God forbid he win and something happens to him and Sarah Palin is the President (HOW SCARY!!!!)

CalCarp:

I must have missed something, ..I didn't get what are you afraid of, ..what is it?
