Do you think it's Ironic that the Pope decried "Selfishness in economic crisis" as he sat on his

Golden Throne with his Gold enladen Robe and wearing a Gold Cross bigger than Mr. T's? He makes the church look like nothing more than one big hypocritical oxy moron...Oh, and if you ever meet him, you're supposed to kiss his gigantic golden ring.
SULLY:

What a crab you are! He was simply pointing out that we need to remember to be more giving, more loving and yes less selfish! He cannot help the attire given to him. :) Please, have a Merry Christmas! :)

CONSERVATIVEATHEIST:

Merry Christmas Think Simple. I just wanted to say hi.

SULLY:

Merry Christmas Twin Sisters..........................:))

ThinkSimple:

Hi Jackie! Good to see you! My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ and gift of giving all year long. It makes it a much more exciting (and extended) holiday.

Daddio:

"My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ and gift of giving all year long. It makes it a much more exciting (and extended) holiday".

I am not sure what to do about the Pope but I thought this comment you made was pretty good. My wife and I have been trying to move toward this train of thought for sometime now. It glorifies Jesus even more to communicate that you will not be held prisoner by all the pressure and commercialism which goes against the reason for the season. Good attitude. Merry Christmas. :)

ThinkSimple:

It's a lot less pressure to live like this, plus you have the rewards of giving all year long. Sure, you can get pressure from the relatives and office mates (My mother is a devote orthodox Catholic who deems me sacraligious). They call me "Scrooge" because I refuse to accept gifts for Christmas, nor do I give any. I ask them to apply their money to their electric bill, instead. On the other hand, I like to "surprise" them with gifts throughout the year. Just the same, I don't do Valentines Day, because I believe I should celebrate my love, expecially for my wife, every single day. She doesn't need a government-mandated holiday for me to buy her a pretty bracelet.

ThinkSimple:

Did I say expecially? That's the last time I aks a question...EVER!...for the next 5 minutes!

Bryan:

Hypocrisy is the foundation of ALL religions. for example a coworker of mine who goes to church twice a week saw a homeless man walking across our parking lot and remarked how disgusting he looked mean while there she stood bleached blonde hair, acrylic nails, color contacts, breast implants and make up for miles wearing a t-shirt that asked "what would jesus do ? " I don't know that he ever existed but, if the words attributed to him are accurate I think he would curl up into a ball and cry himself to death.

ThinkSimple:

Wow, I don't even know how to comment on that, but I can vividly visualize your last sentence.

Bryan:

I was there and I couldn't find one word.

Smokin' Joe:

I know what you mean, TS. The Mormon Church is another example. Ever notice how organized religions are like governments? One standard of living for them and another one for the rest of us.

ThinkSimple:

Yeah, I know. Me and all 6 of my wives agree with you.

SULLY:

Someone is not having a good day! Picking on the poor old Pope............who simply wants to remind us we need to think of others!! He cannot help the ring........it goes with the territory.
Ease up. Do something kind for someone...........................Merry Christmas!

ThinkSimple:

I think a "man of cloth" should be just that. If he passed his gold to the poor and meek, it would alleviate a lot of the suffering he's reminding us to do something about. I like action, not talk.

ThinkSimple:

I shouldn't have had those crabby patties for breakfast.

SULLY:

I agree with you about "The men of cloth." Just don't think the Pope could get around it! It would be like Barrack Obama saying, I think I would prefer to live in a high rise in South Chicago instead of the White house...........Trappings! :)

Headache:

Hypocrisy is a major tenant of most organized religions

Daddio:

I think hypocrisy is a major tenant of mankind. When we can admit that all of us are hypocrites we are taking the first step into discovering why we all need Jesus. Have a good day. :)

Daddio:

Smilingmichael,
Here are verses of scripture just to let you know that Jesus forgives those who humble themselves. I wanted to share with you that some know their sinfulness and hypocrisy , I know I need forgiveness :)
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:9-14

Seth:

A big Yes.
This country as well as some other countries are suffering economic hardships. But for those who do diligent study of there bibles should not be surprised, 2 Timothy 3: 1-5. Yes we are living in critical times/the last days of this system ruled by Satan, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Revelation (last book in the bible) 12:9 . But not for long because God promises in Psalms 37:10-11 peace on earth and
Psalms 72:16 he promises that the earth will be plenty of grain for the meek/humble and Revelation (last book in the bible) 21:3 to 5 the best promise ever.
Pretty soon the Governments will turn to most Religions and see that she has been holding on to mass amounts of money and wealth and not helping her people the way God wanted her to do.
You can see that it is true, buy just looking at the Popes big fat ring. There is nothing wrong with having things as long its not hurting other people and attained honestly. thanks for asking the ???.

Seth:

just wanted to add Goverment will soon put a stop to these religions who have not really help her people and form there own type of religion.

Jerry:

Elexa has a good point and a good heart. And yes the pope this and the pope that. I personally know there is no one on earth who speaks latin, so in a sense the message is meant for no one on this world. lol Let's move on, to the full side of the glass should we? at least for today! lol

SULLY:

Thank you. (blushing) I do speak a great deal of Latin! If i were hearing, I would
love to attend a Latin mass in a Catholic Church.
Great point! :)

Gbob_north:

It would be irony if the items you've mentioned were given freely, or if they were sold for cash, but instead they are simply icons made by people who believe in something that you do not believe in...which is why you insult them.

Gbob_north:

Should read, not given freely...kinda changes the whole meaning.

Gbob_north:

Their beliefs are silly and they are hypocrites right? Because what they do is wrong in your version of what is right? Everyone should believe and pray as you do right?

ThinkSimple:

Heck no, please don't lead MY lifestyle, you might go to hell for sure!..at least my mom thinks so...
