Are you, by nature, passionate regards politics and/or economics?

It seems that more people, than usual, are passionate about both issues this year (2008).Historically, have you been ardent regards both politics and economics?Do you tend to associate the two to be symbiotic?Do you consider yourself to be (ideologically and/or politically) more conservative? ... or more liberal?

NDWind:

Alkaicanot:

I have always considered myself to be liberal. This year i have switched to the far side. McCain makes more sense to me, has more experience. Should I vote McCain it will be just the second time I have voted for a Republican. I hat the way the media is exploiting Obama, yes I said exploiting. He is a pawn for the democratic party. I hardly ever vote party lines. This year I have been more passionate than ever.

MamaV:

I don't think it was so much by nature as in something that was instilled in me as a child growing up with a father who loved history, politics and economics. They were a subject of much debate around our evening dinner meals. I did the same with our children. Has for the last Q. My own Papa described me as a liberal conservative , or as a liberal with with strong conservative ideas. lol I am officially registered republican, but I do not vote strict party lines. I realize that probably doesn't answer your question, but hey its the truth. lol I was raised in a family were respectful debate was encouraged, and being the youngest, I learned to listen to both sides and then form my own opinion.

MamaV:

I like this picture of you much better, the other one made you look mean and scary. lol

NDWind:

Thank you, MamaV :-)

Muttin':

I think its the Internet which is opening peoples eyes. I'm Conservative. I asked my daughter (she's 9) what she thinks the differences between a Conservative and a Liberal are and she said a liberal wants free money and a conservative wants to save their OWN money. Then I asked her if she means save it as in from giving it to taxes or government? And she said no from wasteful spending. Then I realized she has been paying attention to what I have been paying attention to.

Janey:

That's good your trying to keep her off the stripper polls

Muttin':

Texas you're barking at the wrong Dog.

Bewitched:

You are brainwashing your child well, TRA. My parents did a bit of the same. don't worry, she will grow up and get a mind of her own. :)

Muttin':

wrong Blixa I teach her how to take care of herself and not rely on welfare social security and food stamps and men. I teach her to not believe any religion that comes along. I teach her to stand up and be successful and generous to those in need. How is it brainwashing? I only teach her the right way. BTW, Good to see you :)

Bewitched:

:)

MaggieD:

I have never been as ardent about politics as I am right now....prolly because, not only do I have more TIME to do homework, but I am so disappointed and disallusioned with both major parties this presidential election year. Regarding economics, the only other time I was as vocal was when we had rampant inflation under Jimmy Carter in the 1970's. That was soooo destructive, especially to anyone either retired or within just a years of it. I think they're probably symbiotic only in that when we have huge financial concerns country-wide, we blame our leaders. Rightly so. I don't think it would surprise anyone for me to say I'm conservative. ;-)

Janey:

blah blah blah

Rick:

prolly? is that a word? can I use it?

MaggieD:

@ Rick, you prolly can!!!!!

NDWind:

"blah blah blah"

Well, Texas ... that's about the most intelligent thing that we've witnessed you say!!!! :-)

MaggieD:

Hahaha!!

One Twisted Child:

I have always been passionate about politics, however my interest in economics did not truly develop until beginning college. I don't think of their association to be symbolic , rather I see it as inevitable. As far as ideology goes, I have positions representing almost every point on the political spectrum, and I cannot honestly say that I lean any particular way, rather I change positions based on the issue at hand.

Muttin':

Where are you? L 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R?

One Twisted Child:

L 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R
That's where I am, seriously.
I hold some liberal, some conservative, and some moderate beliefs, but not a clear majority of any of them.

Muttin':

Impossible. I understand what you are saying, but you cant have it both ways. Sometimes I can sound harsh, but what do you prefer.... 1. Give my tax money to illegal aliens and those that sit on the couch or 2. give my hard earned money to neighbors and friends as I see fit?
1. A government that tells you what to do or 2. a government where you tell them what to do?
1. Expect someone to take care of you or 2. expect yourself to take care of yourself?
1. Feel national Security means fighting in other countries or 2. waiting for the threat to be fought on our own soil?
1. Think its ok for judges to change laws as the see fit or 2. decipher law and judge accordingly?
I understand you completely. I believe in alot of the liberals positions. But one takes freedom. I'm not a Republican as it appears but I have to be because they are closest to my points of view. These questions should show you whether you are a 4 or a 6. there is no such thing as a 5.

One Twisted Child:

I see where you are coming from Right, however I do not agree. I refuse to affiliate with a party when less than a third, at most, of my views are in line with their platform. My vote is based solely on issue, or candidate, not party.

Muttin':

Ok, understandable. I believe you know if its 4 or 6. But neutrality does not help our country.
If you are left, fight that way. If you are right, fight that way. This country is falling left and when it gets too far left we are doomed. I assume that as a mediator, you will side with the underdog. This is good, and i admire your observations.

Muttin':

You being the Moderate is what I meant. :)

One Twisted Child:

I side with whomever follows my beliefs, which at times proves extremely difficult. Many people fail to see that you do not have to support the ideology, in order to support one ideal .

SovieTAviator:

I was raised in a very politically oriented family it came as naturally as breathing to me I like it but not to the point to see neighbors destroy relationships over it which I have witnessed because in the end the big boys are all really on the same team!!! lol lol

Rick:

I find as I get older I'm more passionate about lying.
