Does America belong to us?

When you start looking at foreign policy and why we feel the need to help some and ignore others, it starts to become more and more clear. The clarity shows that we are a bought out nation. We would like to call ourselves the most powerful nation in the world, but the truth of the matter is, we have masters. If we mess with our masters, they will just pull the rug from under us. That is, they will pull their money out of their investment that is the U.S.A. How does that make you feel? http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/stories/2008/05/02/sovereign_0504.html
Mornay:

No, America does not belong to us any more. Quite frankly, it shames me.

Bewitched:

Thank you :)

El Swanee you are so funny! You shoulda sent more redcoats. ;-)

Nogard:

Unless someone is committed to and accomplishes change, America has and always will be controlled by special interests groups and the wealthy. The common thread throughout our history has been the haves vs the have nots or those holding the power of money, land, votes, and/or religion against those who are poor, weak, disenfranchised and/or rebellious. Yet it has mainly been the latter who have brought about massive social changes.
In today's world, the distinction is worsened by the USA "selling" our country to overseas investors and other nations.
Teddy Roosevelt once said:
"Men of wealth, who find the purchased politician the most efficient instrument of corruption." Men who were "the most dangerous members of the criminal class--the great criminal of great wealth." Of course, in present time, the words men could be changed to other nations.
Peace:)

Bewitched:

Beautifully stated, but I think there are not enough rebels or disenfranchised in our society willing to put up a fight. They feel powerless.

Nogard:

Hey, I am one! I would never yield my power to anyone or anything...well, except God. That's what I get for being a part of the sixties generation--rebel, peace, and love..LOL
Peace:)

Dimview09:

I disagree, America does belong to us, the us the ones that are willing to standup and let our concerns be heard. http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

Dr. Wolfman:

great answer, got my vote!

Mornay:

But I don't see, the American 'mass' standing up. All I see is small groups here and there.

Mornay:

Do you know how many times I've written to my representative or congress person? They don't care. They only care when they are up for election.

Bewitched:

We can stand up and scream all we like. That would not cause the government to back down from our masters. We are in debt by $9 trillion. We keep borrowing and borrowing to pay for programs that do not suit us, but rather fit the schemes of the super wealthy.

Mornay:

Yep Blixa, isn't it pathetic? LOL and ya know who's gonna pay for that don't ya? YOU AND I :) :)

Bewitched:

I know. What a lovely thought LOL

Dimview09:

Thank you Cindy.

ES and Blixa you are wrong about letting your concerns be know. You are correct in saying that the masses won't stand up but they don't either. We are the ones that can take control. Call them regularly, the more calls they get the more you can turn there opinion. Then make sure you call our friends to do the same just complaining will get you what you expect, action on your complaint will get you what you lest expect you wish.

Brian P. O'Gorman:

I'm not worried. It's funny, generally when someone invests in something it's because they believe it will SUCCEED, and will make profit. Why can't those standards apply here?

Bewitched:

And if we do not succeed, we loose the money that we have become dependent on. We lose our safety net. that means we are not really free, doesn't it? Freedom is a fallacy. We are a commodity.

Brian P. O'Gorman:

If we don't succeed then we lose and they lose. It does happen, but the country would go on and recover. Do you really think our country is all about money? That may be a popular theme now, but we would continue to be the US even in the worst financial crisis. Cheer up, you live in the greatest country in the world.

Bewitched:

We live in a great country that is true, but I also do believe that it is all about money. That's capitalism is all about: money.

John P:

I realized a long long time ago that America no longer exist. America has belonged to other countries for a time now. Illegals get more benefits than our own seniors. Here in Alaska it looks like the United States of Asia. Americans seem to have less rights than anybody else. Funny how the rest of the world hates America but they sure as hell flocked here for the benefits and sure as hell want to change America to be like the sorry country they left. Why don't they just stay the hell there, but that is true, they are not treated like humans in their own countries. We can thank our government fr destroying America and giving it away.

Bewitched:

Well of course Alaska has a big native population, it is close to Asiatic nations and is the native of land of Native tribes that have much more right to be there than any immigrants. That is despite the point. The fact is, these are not the people who own us. It is the super wealthy that own us. Did you read the story I linked?

Dimview09:

No don't thank your Government you can thank it's apathetic constituents. Don't be one make calls, make them often and get your friends to do the same. http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

Aditya:

patpat - Are you not a desendent of an immigrant family? What tribe do you belong to?

SovieTAviator:

yes, they are trying to sell it off but we'll never let them take it.

Bewitched:

It's too late.

Dimview09:

It is never to late, stand up and be counted or be stepped on.

Samuel Deva:

makes me remember that this great nation was founded on "borrowed money", thus the cycle began and has gone steadily downhill... one also must remember that we live in a "boom or bust" economy, thus, it's down, but will rise again and again...

Bewitched:

Very true, trumanyears. Those guys in Denmark did place their bets on this country.

Rick:

Makes me feel powerful and very happy to know that I control my own destiny.

LlLLlANSLlLLlES:

After reading these posts I'd like to make a point to those of you that have said they couldn't support a 3rd party candidate. This is all the more reason to support a 3rd party candidate both for the presidency and the congress. Before I get any of those replies like " they don't have a chance"-- do you really want change or do you only want to be part of the "winning " team? The winning team is not always the best team. If we give our support to a 3rd party, we are sending a clear message that we want to change our government. Even if we don't win in this election, if our support is great enough, our new party may get enough attention to be more creditable to the rest of the people. I hope we as a nation of freedom loving people, can have the courage to go into the voting booth and not worry about voting for who we think will win-- but vote for who we want to win. We can take back our country. All we have to do is just do it.

Donorth:

Thank you for your well-placed comment. I couldn't agree with you more.

Donorth:

The answer is no. It, obviously belongs to the DNC (the Primary) --- and, ultimately the Electoral College.
OUR VOTE doesn't count.
Some 13 to 16 MILLION voters elected Hillary in the Primary. She won the popular vote over Obama. BUT --- what good did it do? It was ultimately in the hands of the delegates and super-delegates.
So, where the hell did YOUR vote go? Just as Gore won the popular election vs. Bush --- but it was Bush who was seated, no thanks to his brother Ned (FL).
So, where does your vote count?
KEEP voting ---- YOUR vote doesn't count. NOW, it's up to the Electoral College --- a disgusting, antiquated political device that SHOULD HAVE been done away with --- many years ago. It doesn't serve the people.
And just think ---- how STUPID I AM ---- to actually THINK that MY vote counted !! YOUR vote goes into the "round file" --- just like mine will.

Lovely:

Lincoln said it best. The USA is a government of the people by the people and for the people.

If we are losing America, then maybe because we have turned over too much power to a nucleus of leftwing proponents who thinks government knows best for all of us.

Just listen to the candidates and you'll hear them telling us just what we want to hear and that is we all want to live happily ever after while our government takes good care of us.

Continue down that road and we will definitely lose our country and our freedom.

????English Teacher????:

IT IS MY HUMBLE OPINION THAT WE HAVE BEEN DESCIEVED AND LIED TO FOR SO MANY YEARS THAT MOST CAN'T SEE THE TRUTH FOR THE LIES. AND ALSO, I BELEIVE THAT IS IS THE LIBERALS IN THIS COUNTRY THAT BETRAID US
