Thoughts? Obamba will be inheriting a $1.2 trillion deficit. Clinton left bush a $236 bil. surplus.

1hotnurse:

My thoughts are that Obama knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he ran for President.

Ginger:

Thank you, Eye Candy. I am sure that he did.

Gbob_north:

Even when he promised to save every job in Michigan and promised to drop the Bush tax cuts?

Rick:

Obama knew all about this and has a cure. He's going to fix everything. He promised me a new house. He's going to take all the money people making over 60 thousand and give it to people that really deserve it. I don't see why someone with a college education should have more than a street person.

1hotnurse:

you sarcasm is so endearing. lol

1hotnurse:

make that *your
haha

SULLY:

If you just saw Obamas news conference, you would not be joking around. He is promising deficits for years to come!

SULLY:

I might add the "I told you so", makes for great politics and alleviates responsibility!

Ginger:

@Elexa It appears that we have a choice of only 2 options. More deficits or depression.

SULLY:

There are never only 2 options. Where I am not as economically savvy as you, I am not an idiot! Ginger, I am not angry at you, I am angry that this country has become so corrupt (on both sides of the aisle) we can not even begin to see straight. I will be fine and know my child will be also. However, I am watching too many people hurt, everyday fewer jobs, greater expenses, lost homes............and than after this information is being sent out to us by our brilliant broadcasters, we get to hear about Oprah fat problem and how badly her self esteem is damaged!! We have gone mad! There are always more than 2 options!

Ginger:

The fly in the ointment is corruption. Unfortunately it has always been with us and probably always will be. It is everywhere. Just today the news broke about an 'Enron' style scandal in India.

SULLY:

True Ginger! :(

No skinny:

http://www.craigsteiner.us/articles/16- Clinton never left a surplus that is a smoke screen. Bush is leaving a big deficit, blame both parties for what happened for they both were there, they all bare the burden not just one man. I agree Obama has a great burden when he takes office and we American people need to understand the problem and quit pointing fingers and pull together. I never voted for the incoming President , but he is what we got and I will be praying God will give directions to our leaders, for they certainly need it. I am not a politcal party man ,but I want the best for our country.

Ginger:

That article is showing the deficit as being the difference in the national debt from year to year. That is not what the deficit is when referring to the budget. The deficit, or surplus, is the difference between government expenditures and incoming revenue. Just another smoke screen from the opposition.

Sheldon:

What really amazes me is that even with that deficit, he is proposing a stimulus package exceeding $1 trillion. I don't know why the government can't learn that they can't spend more money than they have.

Ginger:

Thank you, Sheldon, for you answer.

Sweet T:

There will be the [R] responses : 9/11, Iraq, social programs.....Then there will be the [D] responses: Tax cuts to the rich, Bush's war.........But the truth is those we chose to represent us in both houses of Congress have acted irresponsibly and the people saw it and made a change in the administration.

Ginger:

Thank you, dagnabit, for your analysis.

Sweet T:

you're welcome

DUDE:

I would think that President-Elect Obama knew what he was getting into when he ran for the job. When President Bush took office he knew that Osama Bin Laden was out there he just had no idea what the man had in mind for the United States of America. Every President soon finds out that he has far less control over almost every aspect of his job that he thought.

Ginger:

Thank you for your answer, Chief. Are you saying that Osama Bin Laden is responsible for the deficit?

Alabama:

Clinton had a republican majority in senate. Bush had democrat majority in both houses.

Ginger:

Thank you for your answer, Wonderer.

Smokin' Joe:

Clinton left Bush a surplus but robbed social security and gutted the military to do it, so it was really smoke and mirrors. Bush has a huge deficit because he didn't know how to use his veto pen. That shouldn't matter though, because Obama is the savior with all the answers, right? Let's let him fix everything like he said he would.

Ginger:

Thank you for your answer, Joe.

Shippergirl:

Guess a Democratic President is better for the economy than a Republican. Republicans just insure that the wealthy can earn more than ever; and feed all available funds to the Pentagon & CIA war machine. Democrats attempt to upgrade our infra-structure here at home: better highways, forest trails, recreational opportunities, environment, medical insurance/universal coverage... Keep the pork here at home. We need to stop funding military operations in the Middle East - stop providing troops and military equipment . Lets improve our homeland security and stop spending hundreds of Billions on War games.

Ginger:

Thank you, Geohuntr. It would be nice to give the consumer a break for a change.

Gbob_north:

Do you remember the World Com, or Enron crashes? The market sure did LOOK fine when no one was getting caught in the Clinton years...Bush had to deal with reality, no wonder he looked bad.

Ginger:

Thank you for your response, gbob_north.
