Matt Schaffer

what would you do if the hospital called and told you that the child you've been raising isn't yours

Stitchybutt:

I have 8 children all by the same woman, I guess I had better her, because she could be "jivin too", lol

Matt Schaffer:

oh my word...8 kids...and here i thought that one was more than enough...my hat off to you!!!!

Lighty:

I've wondered that myself. I think you'd have two sets of parents wanting both kids (their natural child and the one they raised). I think just keep the kid you've raised and have visitation rights to the natural child. If any abuse is involved, that throws my equation off.

Matt Schaffer:

i don't think i would like to meet my biological child...it would come with too many emotions and probably guilt as well...

Lighty:

I agree about the emotions and guilt, but I think I'd feel a strong responsibility to see that my biological child is safe and loved and taken care of.

Matt Schaffer:

without a doubt, i would inquire about the family, and maybe see pictures, but i would feel really bad meeting him/her...what if i want both kids...what if they make me give back mine...oh the horror....:O

ReenStorm:

Tell them that they have the wrong number.

Matt Schaffer:

excellent answer...would you be curious about your biological child though?

ReenStorm:

Considering the errors in hospitals that include everything from wrong medicine to lost records, I would be very s-l-o-w to change the lives of my family because I got a phone call, long after the fact, that a nursery mistake was made. After all it, could be a mistake too!

Doctor Woot:

I would be upset yes, but I would not abandon a son or daughter that I had raising as my own. Because he or she Would Be My own

Matt Schaffer:

i totally agree with you...it's a scary thing to think about...isn't it...

COOLINIT:

You get my vote. Biologically or not, the child IS MINE. If the other parent didn't want my bio child, I'd start proceedings to adopt BOTH children. We can't always choose our family, but we can make certain they are raised correctly.

Picklesbg:

Id sue thehail out of the hospital , but I know my kids are thier fathers blah. One look at thier pics, lol would be nice if one wasnt..

Juke:

Call 911

Matt Schaffer:

oh boy!!!! you got your mouth full again!!!!! lol

DJ:

Get a couple of bottles and prepare for an extremely painful conversation. This exact thing happened to a friend of mine...except he found out DURING his divorce proceedings...just before he and his ex were to begin custody arrangements!

DJ:

ps...he got the kids anyway!

Matt Schaffer:

how awful for your friend, but great how it turned out...i don't think i would tell my son that he's not mine...because after all HE IS MY SON...it would be a horrible feeling to get a call like that...no?

Tak:

ask for proof, want to know where my child was.i don't thinki could give up the one i had but if forced to i would try and have visiting rights. How awful it would be.

Matt Schaffer:

can you imagine having to give up a child you raised all your life? whether he is or not biologically yours...i would fight to the death for my child...the child i have raised and the one that calls me mom everyday...

Tak:

yes,it would be just a horrid thing to happen.

Trina:

I've had my babies at home so I needn't really worry...but if I was in that situation my first reaction would be, "Man, you guys are incompetent aren't ya?"

Then I would weigh the benefits of disrupting lives vs going on as it had been.

Karlita:

Good answer, T.

Matt Schaffer:

how cool having your kids at home...that is really interesting...wow...
and you're right, so many young lives would be disrupted by this...it would definitely be a horrible feeling...

Trina:

Thanks!

COOLINIT:

Still, I'd want to share the children's lives with the other parents even if we both continued to raise the other's child. I would still want to know.

Stitchybutt:

Me, I would just simply yell into the kitchen to my wife over the top edge of the evening paper, " Lucile, you got some spaining to do", lol

Matt Schaffer:

wwwwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Trina:

(laughing!)

Stitchybutt:

"Splainin" ooops typo. You know the old I Love Lucy shows, lol

Hwy Johnny/tornadokidf5:

I'd probably freak out! I was watching this show, and that did happen. This woman was getting a divorce, and had to prove that she and the man she was divorcing were the biological parent, the hospital called wit the results, and said she wasn't the mother of her 3 kids. She was pregnant, so the hospital hired someone to be sure the kid was was having was born for her, and they took another DNA test, again saying she wasn't the mom. They compeered DNA from her BROTHER wit the kids, and they were related, but they couldn't figure out why the woman wasn't. The took tests, and found out she had a twin, and before she was born, her fetus fused with her sister, causing her to have 2 different DNA's! They took DNA from another part of her, and it said that part of her was related to the kids, so she got to keep them.

Matt Schaffer:

what a horrible thing to happen...as long as it has a happy ending...thanx

Hwy Johnny/tornadokidf5:

Yeah, it was a little confusing the forst time I watched it, but yeah, at leats she's the mother.

Dave:

Thank god! When can you pick him up? ☺

Andy:

Who can actually answer that? That's a nightmare.......I get shivers just thinking about it.

Diggs:

i would keep my dare devil and i wouldn't want to confuse and mess her world up. and the other child too we just would have to go on as always

Gonzo:

Somebody would be paying me some back child support! You beder gimme dat muny!
