Well now that America needs a "Car Tsar" on the pay roll, who do you think it should and why?

Rick:

david hasselhoff of night rider fame. or jay leno

Dimview09:

Jay Leno would make a fine car Tsar. You get my vote. Tell us why you picked Jay

Rick:

I like the black spon on his hair and his chin and his giddy laugh.

Dimview09:

Ok I like the way he shares his cars and his love for them, plus he is a business man. A really great choice. You have good insight.

Ginger:

I do not know who, but I think it should definitely be an economist. If he/she does not understand markets, the effort is doomed to failure.

Dimview09:

Since it seems we must have a Tsar for cars I think your right i would also hope the pick likes cars too.

2 Cents:

Lee Iacocca would be a good choice. He did wonders for Chrysler, I think it was.

MamaV:

Iacocca quote, "Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, "Stay the course." Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I'll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!"

Great choice Sticky Rice, Now I wish I hadn't answered Best Answer here :)

2 Cents:

Thanks, I appreciate what you said. I think he did wonders for Chrysler, and read recently some of his comments in his latest book.

MamaV:

The fast-paced developments come amid an environment of general economic instability, the Congress and the presidency both in transition, a ricocheting Wall Street and the Federal Reserve Board, Treasury and other agencies fighting to steady the reeling financial industry.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she supports the concept of a federal overseer of any rescue plan, saying she lacked confidence the heads of the car companies could solve the problem if “left to their own devices.”
Pelosi appeared on morning television Tuesday after a night of intense Capitol Hill discussions aimed at narrowing the differences over a $15 billion bill that would, among other things, rush short-term loans to the industry. The plan would require that the Big Three reinvent itself to survive — and that it pay back the government if it doesn’t. The package could come to a vote as early as Wednesday.

MamaV:

I do like the idea of a "Car Tsar". Some one who doesn't have a dog in the fight. Congress can not be trusted to oversee it, because they have their pockets full of cash from the big 3 as well as the unions. The big 3, can't be trusted because let's face it they have shown that they are the ones who made the mess of things in the first place. I don't feel the unions should have any say in the matter. Sorry that is just the way I feel. The unions job is to negotiate terms of working conditions between the employee's the company. Who it could be is the hard part. It must be someone who can't be bought, and knows the market of the Auto industry, and is not an actual member of congress. That's the hard part :)

Royboy:

Romney can be trusted. Kick out the unions.

?SugarBabe:

Ralph Nader. $

?SugarBabe:

For those who don't recall Nader's book from years ago; he wrote "Unsafe at any speed." It was an exposé about the Chevrolet Corvair, a small car with a gas tank that was prone to explode whenever the car was involved in a rear end collision. Yes, he is the guy who runs for president every year knowing he can't win. $

Dimview09:

No thanks on Nader, I liked the corvair

Gbob_north:

I don't think it should be anyone, we don't need people in the government controlling business.

Dimview09:

Well you have the real correct answer, but we are getting one so I just want us to help pick the right person lol.

Gbob_north:

Skipping right into "which one" without passing "should we" is a tactic that works on morons.
